TOTO WASHLET S2 vs S5 vs S7 vs S7A: Canadian Prices & Which to Buy (2026)

Prices checked on plumbingmarket.ca on September 24, 2026, in Canadian dollars (Cotton/white unless noted). Prices and stock change, so the product page always has the current number.

Shopping for a TOTO WASHLET in Canada usually comes down to four current S-series seats: the S2, S5, S7 and S7A. They share the same core cleansing technology. What you pay extra for is the controls, how much of the bowl gets auto-cleaned, and hands-free extras. This guide compares all four with TOTO's own specifications, current Canadian prices and a plain recommendation for each type of household.

Quick answer: which TOTO WASHLET should you buy?

Our pick for most homes: the TOTO WASHLET S5 ($955). It has the same warm-water wash as the pricier seats, plus a remote with four user presets.

  • Best value for most homes: WASHLET S5 ($955). Endless warm water, a wireless remote with four user presets, warm-air dryer and night light. This is the one we recommend first to most customers.
  • Tightest budget: WASHLET S2 ($590 elongated). Same instantaneous warm water and wand-cleaning tech as the S5, but you control it from a side arm panel instead of a remote.
  • Best for primary ensuites: WASHLET S7 ($1,791). Adds EWATER+ cleaning of the bowl (not just the wand), a five-level dryer, a wide front spray, a slimmer body and optional auto flush on select elongated TOTO toilets.
  • Most hands-free: WASHLET S7A ($1,966). Everything in the S7 plus a touchless auto open/close lid.

What all four seats have in common

All four seats use a tankless design; TOTO describes the S2 and S5 as having a profile that is 19% slimmer. Across all four seats, TOTO's spec sheets list:

  • Instantaneous water heater for continuous warm water. No small tank that runs cold partway through.
  • PREMIST, which mists the bowl before each use so waste is less likely to stick.
  • EWATER+ auto-cleaning of the wand after every use, plus a self-cleaning wand that rinses inside and out before and after use.
  • CLEAN RESIN on the wand and seat, which TOTO says keeps them cleaner and easier to maintain.
  • Aerated warm-water front and rear spray with oscillating and pulsating modes, and adjustable spray position, water temperature and water pressure.
  • Heated seat with temperature control, warm-air dryer, automatic air deodorizer, night light and SoftClose seat.
  • Docking station for easier installation and cleaning, and an auto energy-saver mode that lowers seat temperature when the seat isn't being used.
  • Canadian standards: each spec sheet lists compliance with CSA B125.1 and CSA C22.2 No. 68, IAPMO (cUPC) certification and code compliance with the National Plumbing Code of Canada (NPC Canada).

So even the entry-level S2 gives you the core TOTO wash experience. The price steps are about convenience and hygiene extras.

Size and profile: how slim is each seat?

TOTO describes the S7 and S7A as a "slim design", and the spec sheets back that up. Here are TOTO's listed dimensions for the elongated versions:

Model (elongated) Length Width Height
S2 24-3/8" 21" 7-7/16"
S5 24-3/8" 17-9/16" 7-7/16"
S7 and S7A 23-3/8" 17-5/8" 6-1/4"

So the elongated S7 and S7A sit 1-3/16" lower and are 1" shorter front to back than the S5. The S2 is the same length and height as the S5 but is listed at 21" wide (it has its arm control panel on the side of the seat). If your toilet is tucked beside a vanity or wall, check that width before you order.

Dimensions are from TOTO spec sheets SS-02273 (S2), SS-02274 (S5), SS-02227 (S7) and SS-02228 (S7A).

TOTO WASHLET S2: the budget pick

TOTO WASHLET S2 elongated bidet seat in Cotton white with its arm control panel

Price at Plumbing Market: $590 elongated (Cotton) · $898.56 elongated (Sedona Beige) · $781.20 round

The S2 is the least expensive way into TOTO's current generation. You get the same instantaneous warm water, PREMIST, EWATER+ wand cleaning and CLEAN RESIN as the S5.

The main difference is control. The S2 uses a convenient arm control panel on the side of the seat, not a wireless remote. TOTO's spec sheet doesn't list user-memory presets for the S2. The warm-air dryer has three temperature settings, the same as the S5.

Choose the S2 if: you want real TOTO warm-water cleansing on a budget, it's for a guest bathroom or rental, or you like physical buttons within arm's reach.

Skip it if: several people will share the seat and want their own saved settings. That's what the S5's remote is for.

TOTO WASHLET S5: best value for most Canadian homes

TOTO WASHLET S5 elongated bidet seat in Cotton white with wireless remote control

Price at Plumbing Market: $955 elongated (Cotton) · $1,092 elongated (Sedona Beige) · $955 round

The S5 keeps everything in the S2 and adds a multifunction wireless remote with personalized memory settings for up to four users. For a family bathroom that single change makes daily use much easier: each person presses their preset instead of readjusting pressure, position and temperature every time.

Per TOTO's spec sheet, the S5 has:

  • Instantaneous water heater for continuous warm water
  • EWATER+ wand cleaning, PREMIST and CLEAN RESIN
  • Three-setting warm-air dryer, heated seat, deodorizer
  • Night light that lights the inside of the bowl
  • SoftClose seat and docking station

The S5 sits between the S2 and the S7 in both price and features. For most households it's the best balance of the two. The jump to the S7 costs noticeably more, and most of what you get is extra automation rather than a better wash.

Choose the S5 if: you want the full remote-controlled WASHLET experience for a shared family bathroom without paying for bowl-cleaning EWATER+ or auto features.

TOTO WASHLET S7: the upgrade for primary ensuites

TOTO WASHLET S7 Contemporary elongated bidet seat with EWATER+ and pearl white remote

Price at Plumbing Market: $1,791 elongated, Contemporary or Classic lid (Cotton) · $2,058 (Sedona Beige) · $1,791 round

The S7 is where TOTO adds more hygiene and more automation-readiness. Compared with the S5, TOTO's S7 spec sheet lists:

  • EWATER+ that cleans the wand and the bowl after every use. On the S2 and S5 it cleans the wand only.
  • Warm-air dryer with five temperature settings, up from three.
  • Wide front cleansing in addition to rear, rear soft and front cleansing.
  • Night light for the side and inside of the bowl.
  • Pearl-white multifunction remote with memory for up to four users.
  • Auto Flush capability with an optional auto flush kit, when installed on select elongated TOTO toilets only.
  • Two lid styles: Contemporary and Classic.
  • A slimmer body: 6-1/4" high vs 7-7/16" for the S5 (elongated, per TOTO's spec sheets).

The Cotton elongated S7 models we stock (SW4726AT40 Contemporary and SW4724AT40 Classic) carry the "AT40" suffix. On TOTO's parts documentation, the "T40" means WASHLET+ and the "A" means Auto Flush compatible. See the WASHLET+ note below.

Choose the S7 if: it's going in your primary ensuite, you want the extra bowl hygiene of EWATER+, or you're installing a WASHLET+-ready TOTO toilet and want the cleanest look.

TOTO WASHLET S7A: fully hands-free

TOTO WASHLET S7A Contemporary elongated bidet seat with touchless auto open/close lid and remote

Price at Plumbing Market: $1,966 elongated, Contemporary or Classic lid (Cotton) · $2,259 (Sedona Beige) · $1,966 round

The S7A is the S7 plus one headline feature: a touchless auto open/close lid. Everything else on the spec sheet matches the S7: EWATER+ for wand and bowl, five-setting dryer, wide front cleansing, four-user remote, side-and-inside night light, and Auto Flush capability with the optional kit on select elongated TOTO toilets.

The S7A costs $175 more than the S7 at today's Plumbing Market prices. That buys you never touching the lid. Some households love it, especially where hands-free use matters. Others find it unnecessary.

Choose the S7A if: you want the most hands-free TOTO bidet seat short of an integrated smart toilet, or you plan to add auto flush on a compatible elongated TOTO toilet.

Shop the S7A Contemporary Elongated · Shop the S7A Classic Elongated · Shop the S7A Round

Adding auto flush: we stock the TOTO THU857 Auto Flush Kit ($195.84). Auto flush works with elongated TOTO toilets only, so it is not an option on round-bowl installations. Confirm your toilet model with us before ordering.

What replaced the TOTO C2 and C5?

A lot of comparisons still mention TOTO's C-series. The WASHLET C2 and C5 have been discontinued and replaced by the S2 and S5, and we no longer offer them. Here is how the replacements line up, based on TOTO's own product pages and spec sheets and our live prices.

  • The S2 replaces the C2: the S2 Elongated ($590) and S2 Round ($781.20) keep the arm control panel, PREMIST, EWATER+ wand cleaning and a three-setting warm-air dryer. The S2 spec sheet also lists an instantaneous water heater, CLEAN RESIN, a SoftClose seat and a night light.
  • The S5 replaces the C5: the S5 Elongated ($955) and S5 Round ($955) keep the wireless remote, PREMIST, EWATER+ wand cleaning, a three-setting dryer and a SoftClose seat. The S5 spec sheet adds an instantaneous water heater, four-user memory presets and a night light. For the full breakdown (tank vs instantaneous warm water, power, size and round-toilet options), see our TOTO WASHLET C5 vs S5 comparison.

Who should buy which? A quick guide

Your situation Our pick Why
First bidet seat, tight budget S2 Same warm-water tech as the S5, lowest price
Shared family bathroom S5 Remote with 4 user presets, still under $1,000
Powder room with a round toilet S5 Round or S2 Round Round versions fit compact bowls
Primary ensuite, hygiene is a priority S7 EWATER+ cleans the bowl as well as the wand
Hands-free / accessibility focus S7A Touchless auto open/close lid, auto-flush capable
New TOTO toilet, want hidden hoses and cords S7 or S7A (AT40) on a WASHLET+ toilet Designed for concealed connections

Will it fit your toilet?

Elongated or round? Each S-series seat comes in elongated and round versions, and you must match your bowl shape. TOTO's spec sheets describe the elongated seats as compatible with most elongated toilets. They also say the seats work with TOTO WASHLET+ and non-WASHLET+ toilets, as well as most models from other manufacturers. So an American Standard toilet is often fine, but check the bowl shape and mounting first.

Using a TOTO toilet? See our guide: Which TOTO toilets are WASHLET compatible?

WASHLET vs WASHLET+ (T40). A WASHLET+ system pairs a WASHLET+ seat with a WASHLET+-ready TOTO toilet, so the water hose and power cord are hidden instead of running around the side. The Cotton elongated S7 and S7A seats we stock are AT40 (WASHLET+ and Auto Flush compatible) versions. Per TOTO's spec sheet, they can also go on non-WASHLET+ toilets. If you're replacing the toilet anyway, a matched set is the neatest option (not sure which toilet? See our TOTO Drake vs Aquia IV vs UltraMax comparison). Examples:

Sedona Beige S7/S7A variants use a different SKU (without "AT40") on TOTO's model list. Check with us if you need beige on a WASHLET+ toilet.

Installation and electrical basics

Before your WASHLET arrives, check two things.

1. Power. All four seats run on 120 V, 60 Hz, and TOTO's spec sheets list a 3.9 ft (1.2 m) power cord. You need an outlet within reach of the toilet. TOTO's WASHLET installation guide says to wire to the product's specification (rated 15 A or more, 120 V AC, 60 Hz). It also says to always use a grounded (3-prong) outlet connected to a ground fault circuit interrupter (GFCI, 30 mA or less). TOTO's installation page adds that electrical code requires a ground-fault 120 V outlet for bathroom appliances. If there's no outlet near the toilet, have a licensed electrician add one to Ontario/Canadian electrical code. TOTO also "highly recommends" a surge protector.

2. Water. The seat connects to the toilet's cold-water supply. TOTO lists a supply pressure range of 7.25 PSI (flowing) to 108.75 PSI (static) and says potable water only, not recycled water. If you are installing on a TOTO Aquia toilet, you will need the TOTO WASHLET adaptor 9AU321-A ($14.40), which we stock. Other current TOTO toilets do not need it.

Once installed, keep the wand and seat clean with our guide on how to clean your TOTO WASHLET bidet seat.

Buying a TOTO WASHLET from a US website?

Many of the comparison pages and prices you'll find for these seats are American, and those prices are in US dollars. Some US sellers state that their WASHLET seats can't be shipped to Canada, and others warn Canadian customers that customs duty and courier brokerage fees are charged on top of the price. Compare the delivered cost in Canadian dollars before you order. Every price in this guide is in Canadian dollars from our own store.

FAQ

What is the difference between the TOTO S5 and S7?

Both have instantaneous warm water, PREMIST and a remote with four user presets. The S7 adds EWATER+ cleaning of the bowl as well as the wand, five dryer settings instead of three, wide front cleansing, a side-and-inside night light, two lid styles and Auto Flush capability (optional kit, select elongated TOTO toilets). At Plumbing Market today the S5 is $955 and the S7 is $1,791 (elongated, Cotton).

Is the TOTO S7A worth it over the S7?

The only spec-sheet difference is the S7A's touchless auto open/close lid. It costs $175 more at today's Plumbing Market prices ($1,966 vs $1,791). Buy the S7A if hands-free use matters to you. Otherwise the S7 gives you the same cleansing and hygiene features.

What's the difference between the TOTO S2 and S5?

They share the same wash technology. The S2 uses an arm control panel on the side of the seat. The S5 has a wireless remote with memory settings for up to four users. At Plumbing Market today the S2 elongated is $590 and the S5 is $955.

Is a TOTO WASHLET compatible with other toilet brands?

TOTO's spec sheets say the S-series seats are compatible with TOTO WASHLET+ and non-WASHLET+ toilets, as well as most models from other manufacturers. Match the seat shape (elongated or round) to your bowl. For TOTO toilets, see our compatibility guide.

What is the difference between TOTO WASHLET and WASHLET+?

WASHLET+ pairs a WASHLET+ seat (model numbers with "T40") with a WASHLET+-ready TOTO toilet, so the hose and power cord are hidden. The cleansing features are the same. The difference is the concealed connection. For the full comparison, including WASHLET+ toilet sets and Canadian prices, see our TOTO WASHLET+ vs WASHLET guide.

What are the electrical requirements for a TOTO WASHLET?

The S-series seats run on 120 V, 60 Hz with a 3.9 ft (1.2 m) cord. TOTO's WASHLET installation guide calls for a circuit rated 15 A or more and a grounded (3-prong) outlet on a GFCI (30 mA or less).

Is the TOTO S7 slimmer than the S5?

Yes. TOTO's spec sheets list the elongated S7 and S7A at 23-3/8" long, 17-5/8" wide and 6-1/4" high, versus 24-3/8" long, 17-9/16" wide and 7-7/16" high for the elongated S5. That makes them 1-3/16" lower and 1" shorter front to back.

What replaced the TOTO C5, and should I buy the S5 or S2?

The C5 has been replaced by the S2 and S5. The S5 spec sheet lists an instantaneous water heater, four-user memory presets and a night light, and it has a wireless remote. The S2 has the same instantaneous heater with an arm control panel instead of a remote. At Plumbing Market today the S2 Round is $781.20, the S5 Round is $955, the S2 Elongated is $590 and the S5 Elongated is $955. If you want a remote, choose the S5.
